The Glenn at Hillsborough Association Recovers $5 Million in Construction Defect Lawsuit

March 9, 1999 - La Mirada, Calif. - The Glen at Hillsborough Association, represented by The Miller Law Firm in Newport Beach, recovered $5 million for construction defects in a 282-unit residential condominium complex located in La Mirada.

The Glen at Hillsborough Association has bee plagued by extreme winter weather, including last year's EI Nino driven storms resulting in roof and deck leaks and water intrusion through windows. The association claimed the leaks were caused by construction defects due to architectural deficiencies and code violations.

The settlement was finalized on Tuesday, March 9, 1999, at the Orange County Superior Court before Judge Robert E. Thomas. The settlement concluded a case originally filed on June 2, 1997 against La Mirada Hills Development Company, and various subcontractors. The builder and ft insurance carriers, together with the subcontractors and their insurance carriers, contributed to the settlement.

"The board of directors is very excited that this litigation is behind us so that we can now move forward to make the necessary repairs to our homes," said Connie Eason, President of the association's board of directors since the problems began. The board of directors of the association will soon begin the process of allocating funds for the repairs.

"We are extremely pleased to reach a fair settlement ending the inconvenience that the homeowners were subjected to over the past months, including El Nino," says construction defect attorney Thomas E. Miller.

Since 1981, Thomas E. Miller has collected more than $300 million in construction defects awards on behalf of California homeowner associations-~ To reach The Miller Law Firm In Newport Beach, call (800) 403-3332 or visit their web site at www.constructiondefects.com.
