September 5, 2001- Phoenix, AZ - Nine residents of Arizona's award winning master-planned community, Anthem, have filed two $50 million class action lawsuits against developer Del Webb and builders Anthem Arizona, L.L.C. and Coventry Homes, Inc. claiming building and structural defects to homes in the major subdivisions, Country Club and Parkside. These are the largest construction defect suits filed in the history of Arizona.
Construction defects found in the homes include roof and window leaks, unacceptable cracks in stucco, slab and foundation cracks, inadequate surface drainage, and cracked and separated masonry blocked walls.
These Anthem residents are represented by the Miller Law Firm, LLP. Thomas E. Miller, founder of the Miller Law Firm, is the nations leading expert in construction defect litigation.
"After a review of all the facts and consultations with independent construction experts, the homes constructed at Anthem fall below minimum building and industry standards. Although relatively new, the homes show a consistent pattern of poor quality and construction. The developer breached the implied warranty of workmanship that applies under Arizona law. Homeowners have up to 8 years to file such a claim from the date the house is completed or occupied," states Miller.
The Anthem planned community is located just off interstate 17 at Anthem Way. With a total of 5856 acres, there are 12,000 homes planned for the site with just over 2000 built to date. The development also includes a community center, elementary school, and marketplace.
With offices located at 6991 E. Camelback Road in Scottsdale, The Miller Law Firm is currently representing hundreds of Valley homeowners. The Miller Law Firm has recovered more than $400 million on behalf of home and condominium owners from across the Western United States.
