Sun City Grand group sues builder for repairs

The Arizona Republic

January 17, 2002 - A group of Sun City Grand homeowners upset over leaking roofs, cracking walls and termites is suing builder Del Webb and its new owner, Pulte Homes, to repair their houses and others in the retirement community in Surprise.

On Wednesday, 18 people filed to get class-action status for a suit seeking an estimated $100 million to repair reputed damages in any or all of the development's 5,000 homes. That makes it the most expensive home-construction defect complaint ever filed in Arizona.

A statement from Webb said the problem isn't community-wide and that it wants to work directly with any unhappy homeowners in Sun City Grand.
