IN BRIEF LATE-BREAKING REPORTS SETTLEMENT REACHED - In what is being called one of the largest construction defect settlements in Los Angeles County, a group of general contractors, subcontractors and a developer have agreed to settle a lawsuit brought by a condominium association for more than $15 million. The Century Park Place Condominium Association filed a lawsuit against Century Hill North Company, a partnership of developers whose names are not being released due to confidentiality agreement, in January 1993. The association claimed that leaks in the roof, decks, and windows along with plumbing and electrical problems were caused by faulty construction and design. (Century Park Place Condominium Association v. Century Hill North Company, SC021677). The luxury units, located off Avenue of the Stars in Century City, originally sold for between $450,000 and $950,000. The association will receive $15.2 million, which will be put into a trust fund for the repairs of the building, said Newport Beach attorney Thomas E. Miller, who filed the claim. The settlement leaves one of the subcontractors facing additional damages totalling more than $3 million.
