Condo Owners Settle Construction Defect Suit
Las Vegas Sun
Tuesday, September 12, 2000
The Coves Homeowner
Association, representing owners of a Las Vegas condominium
complex with construction defects, said it won a $2.75 million
settlement in a lawsuit filed in Clark County District Court
against a Las Vegas developer.
The suit, filed
by Coves attorney Robert Sparks and Thomas E. Miller against
Plus Reiger Construction Inc., claims the defects were a result
of a building code violation and architectural deficiencies
and included roof and window leaks, sheet metal flashing failures,
improperly sloped decks, plumbing problems and electrical
deficiencies.
Miller said
the resolution was complex because the developer had preformed
a substantial potion of the work rather than hiring subcontractors,
which reduced the number of parties available to contribute
to a global settlement.
Plus Reiger's
attorney declined comment.
